WEEKLY WISHES #10
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a restful weekend! I just got back from a quick trip up to my parents’, and as usual, it was great to be home. Sunday included a mad dash to IKEA in Toronto, which I will never ever do again. Oh my gosh – it was so busy! When we used to live in Toronto, IKEA was a fairly regular destination for us – so it wasn’t foreign territory. But I can’t ever remember it being so crazy with shoppers. Have I mentioned I don’t do well with crowds? And don’t get me started on the people who go the opposite way of the arrows in IKEA…
But anyway, I finally was able to pick out some new dishes – something that has been long overdue. I’m still rocking the mish-mash of college-era dishes and hand-me-downs, and after doing a ton of research, I landed on the IKEA 365 series. I really struggled with this decision, thinking that maybe I wanted to go a little more high end, but ultimately decided that the 365 was the one for us. Stylish enough to serve company with, sturdy enough to be workhorse dishes, and affordable enough that I don’t feel like I have to be too precious with them.
Well, enough about dishes and on to Weekly Wishes! (I didn’t intend for that to rhyme, but I totally didn’t stop it from happening when I realized.)
Looking back to my last goals:
1. Fixing up the labeling situation. Yes! I really dedicated some brain power to this issue these last couple of weeks. My next session of packing and shipping will implement the new system and I’m eager to find out just how much more efficient it’ll end up being. Fingers crossed!
2. Find a stellar dinner spot for our trip to NYC this weekend. Yep! We had a great dinner at the Park Avenue Tavern. While we had a great time in New York a week ago, we didn’t have the greatest weather. So proximity to our hotel became slightly more important. We were lucky this gem was right across the street!
Now on to this week:
1. Get another set of cards ready for print. I have a birthday card series that is 75% ready for printing. I just need do some final touches and they’ll be ready to print! I’m always excited to get more cards in the shop.
2. Start and finish 2014 taxes. For me, this is probably the worst part of being self employed. Taxes are the pits! And because my and my hubs are both self employed, this week gets doubly gross. So don’t be surprised of you see a black cloud floating above our office all week because ain’t nothin’ but a bunch of grumps around here.
What are your goals for this week?
— Gillian
